The Seattle Public Library (SPL) system is a massive repository of knowledge, managing millions of physical and digital assets across dozens of branches. The library system relies on complex cataloging software and massive patron databases, all integrated into the city’s broader digital infrastructure managed by Seattle IT.

A storage array failure or localized server crash at a major branch can disrupt digital access, archive retrieval, and daily operations for thousands of residents. Standard IT triage is often insufficient for enterprise-level database failures.

To address these critical municipal failures, Seattle Data Recovery operates at a post-graduate level. Our premier data recovery lab is now located at the UW Medicine Building in Ballard. Because professional data recovery requires professional spacing, we offer the secure, environmentally controlled facilities necessary to safely retrieve the SPL’s massive archival and catalog databases.

Critical Notice: Physical Damage & Hardware Policy

Please be advised that ANY damage that is physical or mechanical in nature requires additional parts and labor.
The baseline mechanical recovery rate covers our cleanroom environment entry, laboratory equipment allocation, and initial micro-engineering setup. Because physical failures require sourcing exact matching donor drives from our global component pipeline to swap out broken read/write head assemblies, seized spindles, or damaged electronics, all components, replacement donor hardware, and extended mechanical bench labor will be billed as additional standalone costs following your diagnosis.
