Building Use Policy: Prohibited Items & Safety Regulations
Welcome to our medical corridor facility. Because our data intake offices operate within a premier, multi-use healthcare and medical business ecosystem, our location is bound by stringent state, federal, and clinical safety baselines. To maintain absolute compliance with health protocols, protect immunocompromised individuals, and safeguard the data assets entering our environment, the following actions, behaviors, and items are strictly prohibited within the premises.
1. Absolute Prohibition of Research & Laboratory Animals
We recognize that the surrounding university and medical networks are global leaders in scientific and biomedical research. However, unauthorized animals—specifically purpose-bred research models, laboratory rodents, and research rats—are completely banned from entering this facility under any circumstances.
To maintain our regulatory standing and protect human health, we adhere strictly to the following legal and clinical mandates:
- Public Health Service (PHS) Policy Mandates: In accordance with the federal Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (specifically Section IV.B.2) and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, any space housing or processing research animals is legally subject to mandatory, rigorous, and semiannual Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) engineering inspections. Because our executive intake suite is a dedicated data technology and human enterprise space, bringing a research animal onto the premises compromises the facility's zoning compliance. [1, 2, 3, 4]
- USDA Animal Welfare Act Regulations (AWARs): Under federal code 9 CFR § 2.31(c)(2), the housing, transport, and containment of regulated laboratory animals must strictly occur within accredited, designated vivariums and scientific facilities. The introduction of research specimens into a commercial business or public-facing clinic corridor constitutes an unauthorized transit and a direct violation of federal bio-containment guidelines. [2, 3]
- CDC Environmental Infection Control & Zoonotic Risk: Per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Guidelines for Environmental Control in Health-Care Facilities, non-authorized animals (including rodents, reptiles, and uncertified pests) present an elevated risk for the transmission of zoonotic pathogens and severe micro-environmental allergens. To protect human patients, clinicians, and tech personnel sharing this infrastructure, an Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) mandates a zero-tolerance policy for non-human research vectors. [2, 5, 6]
Note: This restriction does not apply to legally recognized, fully certified medical service animals under active handler supervision in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
2. General Building Prohibitions & Safety Protocols
To preserve our secure, institutional-grade environment, the following general policies are strictly enforced across our floor and shared corporate spaces:
- No Uncertified Hazardous or Bio-Contaminated Materials: No client media or accompanying luggage that has been exposed to active chemical spills, biological agents, or unmitigated industrial biohazards may be carried openly into the facility. Such items must follow certified hazardous material shipping pathways.
- No Tampering with Facility Security Frameworks: Our physical intake workspace operates with multi-factor encryption logs and physical tracking. Visitors must remain within the designated administrative reception area managed by our corporate facilities partner, Regus. Unaccompanied wandering, entry into restricted tech closets, or unauthorized photography of intake desks is strictly prohibited.
- No Disruptive or Non-Professional Conduct: As a vital node within the University District medical corridor, our office requires a quiet, distraction-free environment. High-volume meetings, unannounced solicitation, or disruptions to neighboring clinical professionals will result in immediate removal from the building.
3. Right of Refusal & Service Terms
Our physical space operations team and our building management partners reserve the absolute right to refuse entry or immediately revoke access to any individual found in possession of a prohibited item or animal. Non-compliance with federal, state, or building safety regulations will result in immediate termination of the intake window, and the incident will be logged in accordance with our institutional chain-of-custody security guidelines.
