Broadcom (formerly LSI) MegaRAID controllers leverage Event Messages (hex format 0x0000 to 0x0275) and StorCLI command utility exceptions to convey topology disruptions.
  • 0x1b / Event Code 27 (LD is not OPTIMAL):
    • Context: The Logical Drive (LD) framework registers missing members. The array drops its fully functional state and enters a Degraded mode (e.g., RAID 5 missing one disk, RAID 6 missing up to two).
    • Action Plan: Extract physical topology maps via storcli /c0 /eall /sall show. Identify the missing slot allocation and slide in a designated replacement disk to trigger automatic parity reconstruction.
  • Unexpected Sense: PD = X:X CDB = [Hex] Sense = [Hex]:
    • Context: The controller intercepted an internal SCSI/SAS query rejection directly from a Physical Disk (PD). This often surfaces under extreme I/O load or when sectors physically degrade, flagging internal read/write time-out exceptions.
    • Action Plan: Decouple the hex string mapping the "Sense Key" and "Additional Sense Code (ASC/ASCQ)" parameters to isolate whether the root cause is a bad logical block address (LBA) or a broken spindle interface.
  • Error Code 49 (LSI Storage Authority Login Failure):
    • Context: An authentication handshake failure within the management console layer (LSA) preventing administrative oversight into the active controller infrastructure.
    • Action Plan: Restart the host service engines or align the operating system user permissions to properly register against the secure local LSA daemon.

Critical Notice: Physical Damage & Hardware Policy

Please be advised that ANY damage that is physical or mechanical in nature requires additional parts and labor.
The baseline mechanical recovery rate covers our cleanroom environment entry, laboratory equipment allocation, and initial micro-engineering setup. Because physical failures require sourcing exact matching donor drives from our global component pipeline to swap out broken read/write head assemblies, seized spindles, or damaged electronics, all components, replacement donor hardware, and extended mechanical bench labor will be billed as additional standalone costs following your diagnosis.
