Client: USNR
Industry: Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, and Forestry
Service Provided: Level 4 Data Recovery
The Client
USNR is a major manufacturer of sawmill machinery and industrial technology. As an industry leader, their equipment and software systems are the backbone of the global wood processing and lumber industries, powering everything from specialized scanning to automated mill production.
The Challenge
When a critical system fails in the manufacturing sector, the ripple effects can stall production lines nationwide. We were tasked with a complex Level 4 data recovery operation for a severely compromised USNR computer. This hardware was an engineering workstation or corporate server that contained highly sensitive intellectual property, operational data, and critical employee information.
- The catastrophic hardware failure threatened years of irreplaceable industrial innovation, including:
- Proprietary Technology and Engineering Data: Detailed schematics, CAD designs, blueprints, and the underlying code for heavy machinery like edgers, planers, chippers, and scanning/optimization systems.
- AI and Optimization Algorithms: Crucial data driving their AddVantage AI defect-detection technology and advanced scanner/optimizer software, which directly dictate mill productivity.
- Customer Operational Data: Extensive production logs, data mining reports, and efficiency analytics generated by USNR’s Millwide and MillIntelligence software used by clients.
- Strategic R&D: Information on future technology developments, proprietary software configurations, and patent filings.
- Internal Business Records: Sensitive corporate information, financial records, and employee data.
The Solution
A Level 4 recovery indicates the highest tier of hardware failure, often requiring cleanroom intervention, microscopic repairs to read/write heads, and highly advanced firmware reprogramming to bypass critical drive faults.
Our engineers successfully stabilized the physical media and utilized proprietary extraction techniques to clone the failing storage sectors. By painstakingly reconstructing the fragmented file systems, we were able to fully recover the compromised SQL databases, CAD files, and proprietary source code that govern USNR's machinery.
The Impact
By successfully recovering this critical infrastructure, we played a large role in the continuation of the American manufacturing and lumber industries. Restoring USNR's proprietary blueprints and cutting-edge AI optimization software ensured that the downstream supply chain—from timber processing plants to major logistics warehouses—avoided catastrophic disruptions and massive financial losses.
This recovery underscores our commitment to supporting the industrial sector. We provide the vital technical safety net that keeps America’s warehouses, mills, and manufacturing companies operational when hardware fails.
