• The Problem: Early versions of the ultra-fast Samsung 980 PRO had a software bug built into their internal logic. When the drive got confused or hit a minor error, instead of fixing it, the drive panicked and locked itself into a permanent "Read-Only" mode to protect itself from exploding further.
  • What to Look For: You can turn on your computer and see your files, but you cannot save any new work, delete any items, or download updates. In other cases, the computer refuses to boot up at all.
  • What to Do: Do not try downloading random repair software online, as it can accidentally wipe your drive completely. Get professional help from the engineering team at Seattle Data Recovery.

Critical Notice: Physical Damage & Hardware Policy

Please be advised that ANY damage that is physical or mechanical in nature requires additional parts and labor.
The baseline mechanical recovery rate covers our cleanroom environment entry, laboratory equipment allocation, and initial micro-engineering setup. Because physical failures require sourcing exact matching donor drives from our global component pipeline to swap out broken read/write head assemblies, seized spindles, or damaged electronics, all components, replacement donor hardware, and extended mechanical bench labor will be billed as additional standalone costs following your diagnosis.
